Consumer
Brochures
As part of our mission to educate Texans
about the use of credit, the OCCC creates and distributes brochures on a variety
of topics. You can view brochure text on this site or order paper copies using

Newsletters
for OCCC Licensees
Educating licensees is an integral part
of the OCCC educational mission. The agency distributes newsletters to its
licensees to inform them of legislative developments, issue compliance bulletins,
and offer helpful articles on a variety of industry-specific topics.

These letters advise
our our licensees of new regulations and request future business plan changes
in light of those changes.
Licensing
Activity Reports
The OCCC's monthly
licensing and registration volume reports as well as annual volumes by fiscal
year are updated each month by the fifteenth of the next month.
Rate-related Publications
Texas
Credit Letter
This weekly publication provides certain
interest rates that are calculated by the Consumer Credit Commissioner using
the formulas found in Sections 303.003 and 303.009 of the Texas Finance Code.
Market
Competitive Rate Ceiling
This rate ceiling applies to open-ended
retail charge agreements. This rate ceiling structure may be used as an alternative
to the maximum rate/amount authorized for a time price differential under
Section 345.103.

Bracket Adjustments
The interest rate brackets used by the OCCC
licensees are adjusted each year to reflect changes in the Consumer Price
Index. The new rates are typically published in March and go into effect in
July.

The rate charts provided by the OCCC contain the
base amounts used in determining interest rates for the loans or credit extended
by our licensees.
